Mary Magdeline: Living Faith

The development of Mary’s faith……and yours

1. Starting her faith

• Seven demons Mk 16:9
• Luke 18 – she was demon possessed and in a dark place
• Jesus took them from her
  • We all start somewhere
  • Have gratitude and thankfulness for Jesus meeting you in dark places
  • EVERYONE can be saved; no one is too far from Jesus’ reach

2. Building her faith

• Following him and ministered to him Mk 15:40-41
  • How are you building your faith
  • Bible study, prayer, relationship with God, worship, fellowship, following day in the day out ALL the time in everything we do.
  • Other ways we can do this today – whatever you do for “them” you do for Jesus. Deny self, pickup your cross, follow Him
  • Involve your kids/ family

3. Testing of her faith

• Jn 19:25 Standing by the cross of Jesus
  • Your faith WILL be tested as well in different ways
  • Your faith will crumble if you skip building your faith

4. Proving of her faith

• Jn 20: 1-2 Went to the tomb.
  • She still pursued Jesus and went to where he was – we have to do the same. She didn’t know he had risen yet she still believed she needed to be where he was.
  • Do you still go to Jesus when tested? Like when you don’t get that answer you wanted to prayer for example?
  • Do you go to him for comfort or seek out your friends?
  • Does your prayer or study life increase or decrease during times of testing?
  • Phil 4:7

5. Validation of her faith

• Jn 20:11 He appeared first t Mary Mk 16:9
  • Your day is coming, how are you preparing? Your day for Jesus to ay “welcome” is going to require walking with Jesus everyday.

 

What will you do? Mary’s story starts and ends with Jesus coming  TO HER. She stayed with him in the middle of that time. She built her faith during that time.  The “in between” matters.
