How to Overcome Burnout
Quit – (Job 1:9) - Then Satan answered the Lord and said, “Does Job fear God for no reason?
Move – (Acts 14:2-3) -2 But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles and poisoned their minds against the brothers.[a] 3 So they remained for a long time, speaking boldly for the Lord, who bore witness to the word of his grace, granting signs and wonders to be done by their hands.
Withdraw – (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12) -9 Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. 10 For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! 11 Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? 12 And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
Rest – (Mark 6:31) - 31 And he said to them, “Come away by yourselves to a desolate place and rest a while.” For many were coming and going, and they had no leisure even to eat.
Delegate – (Acts 6:2-4) -2 And the twelve summoned the full number of the disciples and said, “It is not right that we should give up preaching the word of God to serve tables. 3 Therefore, brothers,[a] pick out from among you seven men of good repute, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we will appoint to this duty. 4 But we will devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word.”
Collaborate – (Proverbs 12:15) - The way of a fool is right in his own eyes,    but a wise man listens to advice.
Set Proper Goals – (Proverbs 16:3) -  Commit your work to the Lord,    and your plans will be established.
Set Boundaries – (Mark 4:36) - And leaving the crowd, they took him with them in the boat, just as he was. And other boats were with him.
Remember This Truth – (2 Corinthians 5:10) - For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.

Living Water
The condition - Jesus was addressing spiritual condition; spiritual dehydration. John 4:7-14 The Samaritan woman was spiritually dehydrated. We does spiritual dehydration exist? Man has always sought to worship someone or something. We have an innate desire (Eccl 3:11) to  inquire of eternity.
Man has a choice.  Free will / volition. Man has a part to play in this. We have the right to choose. God gave us free will over the course of all dispensation. man has the choice to choose God or not. Luke 9:23 - all of mankind has to make this choice, and we have to count the cost of the choice.
Prescription. Man is in a state of spiritual dehydration. God set infirmity in our health. Jesus gives the cure for the condition. John 14:6. How does one drink of Jesus / come to Jesus?
By learning about him. - 2Peter 1:3-4 The word of God is how Jesus escaped temptation and it is how we will also.
1 Timothy 2:4 "It is in learning of Christ that we gain salvation" - Gen 6:8,14 Eph 2:8; Titus 2:11
Conclusion of understanding of your condition of spiritual dehydration. The conclusion is that we have to believe and obey. Out of this bellies will fill with living water. Mark 16:18-20; 1Cor 13:8-13; Romans 8:24-25, Hebrews 4:12; John 6:68

Three Reasons
The Deficiencies of Sight God has no deficiencies of sight and he guides us on the right path.

Your day is coming, how are you preparing? Your day for Jesus to ay “welcome” is going to require walking with Jesus everyday.
 
What will you do? Mary’s story starts and ends with Jesus coming  TO HER. She stayed with him in the middle of that time. She built her faith during that time.  The “in between” matters.

52 The Jews then disputed among themselves, saying, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” 53 So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. 54 Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. 55 For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. 56 Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him. 57 As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so whoever feeds on me, he also will live because of me. 58 This is the bread that came down from heaven, not like the bread[c] the fathers ate, and died. Whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.” 59 Jesus[d] said these things in the synagogue, as he taught at Capernaum.
The Words of Eternal Life
60 When many of his disciples heard it, they said, “This is a hard saying; who can listen to it?” 61 But Jesus, knowing in himself that his disciples were grumbling about this, said to them, “Do you take offense at this? 62 Then what if you were to see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before? 63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life. 64 But there are some of you who do not believe.” (For Jesus knew from the beginning who those were who did not believe, and who it was who would betray him.) 65 And he said, “This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless it is granted him by the Father.”
66 After this many of his disciples turned back and no longer walked with him. 67 So Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you want to go away as well?” 68 Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life, 69 and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God.” 70 Jesus answered them, “Did I not choose you, the twelve? And yet one of you is a devil.” 71 He spoke of Judas the son of Simon Iscariot, for he, one of the twelve, was going to betray him.
 
The scheme of redemption is most important. God planned our redemption as he developed the universe. The scriptures are the unfolding God's plan and at the center of the plan is Jesus Christ.
Jesus came to the earth to redeem all of mankind.
He is the preserver of life
He is the provider of life
He is persistent in the service of life.

The 7 Signs of John’s Gospel
Context
Purpose statement -  There is no purpose statement more powerful than in the book of John in Jn 20: 30-31
Signs – Those things that display God’s glory
               In John they are those things that point to Jesus as the Son of God
               The sign may do one thing (like a miracle is performed) but all point to God
               Public attestations (done in front of others)
 
The 7 Signs
Turning water into wine
Healing the nobleman’s son
Healing the lame man
Feeding 5000
Healing the blind man
Raising Lazarus
For the final sign there are many different suggestions ---
Cleansing the temple
Speaking to Nicodemus/serpent raised
Walking on water
Mary anointing Jesus
Triumphal entry
Soldiers thrusting the spear in Jesus’ side
Crucifixion and resurrection – Neal’s choice because all other signs lead to this
Post resurrection appearances
~Signs are the Father bearing witness that Jesus is his son thru his words, actions, and works.
 
 
The 7 Signs In detail
Water into wine signifies a new order (Jn 2:1-12). The water was in jars of purification and so Jesus took something from Judaism and made it something new and different (which everyone needed something new).
Cleansing of the temple signifies a new authority (Jn 2:13-25) Establishes Jesus’s authority repeatedly.
Healing the Nobleman’s son signifies new life (Jn 4:46-54) This is the first time we see faith without the immediacy of sight.
Healing of the lame man signifies new judgement (Jn 5:1-9) Here is an indication of sin. V14 – not necessarily that it caused his ailment but that he needed to turn from sin because there are things worse than being lame)
Feeding of the 5000 signifies new sustenance (Jn 6:1-5) Bread of life Jn 6:51
Healing of the blind man signifies new sight Jn 9. Neighbors, pharisees, parents, and man born blind. The physically blind could see spiritually. The others were spiritually blind.
Raising Lazarus signifies a new resurrection
 
There is a steady march to Calvary with signs. Jn Ch 20:30-31  The signs were significant enough that those who were disposed to believe would.

The Healing at the Pool on the Sabbath
5 After this there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
2 Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, in Aramaic[a] called Bethesda,[b] which has five roofed colonnades. 3 In these lay a multitude of invalids—blind, lame, and paralyzed.[c] 5 One man was there who had been an invalid for thirty-eight years. 6 When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had already been there a long time, he said to him, “Do you want to be healed?” 7 The sick man answered him, “Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, and while I am going another steps down before me.” 8 Jesus said to him, “Get up, take up your bed, and walk.” 9 And at once the man was healed, and he took up his bed and walked.

Sin no more, that nothing worse may happen to you.” 15 The man went away and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had healed him. 16 And this was why the Jews were persecuting Jesus, because he was doing these things on the Sabbath. 17 But Jesus answered them, “My Father is working until now, and I am working.”
Jesus Is Equal with God
18 This was why the Jews were seeking all the more to kill him, because not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God.
The Authority of the Son
19 So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father[e] does, that the Son does likewise. 20 For the Father loves the Son and shows him all that he himself is doing. And greater works than these will he show him, so that you may marvel. 21 For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to whom he will. 22 For the Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son, 23 that all may honor the Son, just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him. 24 Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.
25 “Truly, truly, I say to you, an hour is coming, and is now here, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live. 26 For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son also to have life in himself. 27 And he has given him authority to execute judgment, because he is the Son of Man. 28 Do not marvel at this, for an hour is coming when all who are in the tombs will hear his voice 29 and come out, those who have done good to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil to the resurrection of judgment.
Witnesses to Jesus
30 “I can do nothing on my own. As I hear, I judge, and my judgment is just, because I seek not my own will but the will of him who sent me. 31 If I alone bear witness about myself, my testimony is not true. 32 There is another who bears witness about me, and I know that the testimony that he bears about me is true. 33 You sent to John, and he has borne witness to the truth. 34 Not that the testimony that I receive is from man, but I say these things so that you may be saved. 35 He was a burning and shining lamp, and you were willing to rejoice for a while in his light. 36 But the testimony that I have is greater than that of John. For the works that the Father has given me to accomplish, the very works that I am doing, bear witness about me that the Father has sent me. 37 And the Father who sent me has himself borne witness about me. His voice you have never heard, his form you have never seen, 38 and you do not have his word abiding in you, for you do not believe the one whom he has sent. 39 You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me, 40 yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life. 41 I do not receive glory from people. 42 But I know that you do not have the love of God within you. 43 I have come in my Father's name, and you do not receive me. If another comes in his own name, you will receive him. 44 How can you believe, when you receive glory from one another and do not seek the glory that comes from the only God? 45 Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father. There is one who accuses you: Moses, on whom you have set your hope. 46 For if you believed Moses, you would believe me; for he wrote of me. 47 But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe my words?”

The gospel of John is the complete trial of Jesus. The book questions everything such that you may understand and believe.
With every accusation Jesus not only answers his accusers he turns the accusation back on the accusers.
When Jesus heals on the Sabbath, Jesus shows his authority over the Sabbath.
